Cycling
Bring your bikes and store them in our bike store, and explore the surrounding area. The Upper Eden Valley is full of quiet lanes, wide open moorland and steep climbs as well as short easy bike rides for the children. The Tour of Britain 2019 even passed through Great Musgrave and Kirkby Stephen.

Sailing, Canoeing and Paddleboarding
Our nearest lake is Ullswater; it takes 50 minutes to drive to the northern end, here you can hire motor boats, sailing boats, rowing boats and canoes from serveral companies.

Fishing
Kirkby Stephen and District Anglers
Fly fishing on the River Eden is within walking distance from the front door and extends from Warcop to Pendragon in the Mallerstang Valley. Day tickets can be acquired from Halls Newsagents, in Kirkby Stephen for £20 per day or £50 for the week.

Golf
Appleby Golf Course
Situated alongside the A66 within 8 miles of Low Ploughlands, Appleby Golf Club can be described as an ‘Inland Links’ course. Sitting on a bedrock of Sandstone, Appleby is free draining so is playable all year round, which is a rare thing in Cumbria!
Riverside Golf Club – Ravenstonedale
A unique 18 hole, 9 green golf course specialising in par 3 short holes with 70-140 yd fairways. Ideal for beginners and a beautiful place to be. No booking required just self registration and an honesty box when you enter the course.
Climbing
For indoor or outdoor climbing you can visit King Kong Climbing Centre in Keswick (50 min drive). They also offer Ghyll scrambelling, guided mine climbing and guided tour of via ferrata : Visit Website
Clay Pigeon Shooting

On the way home take the scenic route through the Howgills via Sedburgh for a meal.
